The Outspeed quiz lets you set your own Pokemon's actual Speed stat, then asks whether you can outspeed a random opponent. It is one step closer to live battle decisions than the Speed quiz.

You can tune Nature, EVs, and Choice Scarf. Whether the opponent is allowed to hold Scarf is also configurable, so you can get a realistic feel for what a given spread covers.

What outspeed tuning means

Outspeed tuning is the practice of setting your actual Speed just high enough to beat a specific target by a single point. Since moving first only requires edging the opponent out, investing more than that wastes points you could spend on bulk or power — yet investing too little hands the initiative to exactly the Pokemon you needed to beat. The standard approach is to pick the targets you want to outspeed and draw the line with the smallest investment that clears them.

This quiz has you fix your own actual Speed first, then decide whether you outspeed a random opponent. It sits one step closer to real battles than the base-stat Speed quiz because you compete with final numbers that already fold in EVs and Nature, so it trains the tuning instinct directly.

Factoring in Choice Scarf

Choice Scarf lifts Speed enough to rewrite the whole premise of a tune. If you hold Scarf, you clear targets you would normally lose to; but if you ignore the chance that the opponent holds one, a spread you thought was safe gets flipped. Toggle the opponent's Scarf in the settings and check your realistic range both with and without it.

How it differs from the Speed quiz

If the Speed quiz is the fundamentals — comparing two Pokemon by base Speed — the Outspeed quiz is the applied drill built around your own final number. Learn the rough order in the Speed quiz first, then use the Outspeed quiz to feel out how far a given spread actually reaches. Taking them in that order turns knowledge into live decisions.

Should I just max out Speed?
Not necessarily. Beating your target by a single point already secures the first move, so anything beyond that is usually better spent on bulk or power. Pick your targets and hit them with the minimum investment.
How much opposing Scarf should I assume?
It depends on the format and the specific opponent, but folding in Pokemon that commonly run Scarf cuts down on accidents. Toggle the opponent's Scarf and check your range both with and without it.
